What full length means here
A full-length jean is cut so the hem reaches the top of your shoe or falls past it. What happens above the hem can vary widely, which is why full-length jeans can move from a slim cigarette leg to a low-rise wide leg while still sharing the same defining length.
A hem that reaches your shoe will touch the floor when you walk, and over a few months it will fray at the back where it drags. On a rigid cotton that wear is the point, and it is why Regina and Frida look better in the second season than the first. All twenty-one sit inside the wider women's jeans range.
The full length wide leg
Most of the pairs here are full length wide legs, which makes this the centre of the collection rather than a corner of it.
Width and length work on each other, and a full length wide leg is where that shows most clearly. A wide leg cropped at the ankle stops the line and puts your shoe into the outfit. Take the same leg to the floor and it falls as one column from waist to hem, with the fabric moving independently of your leg the whole way down. That column is the reason people buy a full length wide leg, and it only works if the hem actually reaches.
Frida is the pattern the collection is built on: a high rise, easy through the hip and thigh, with a full inseam, offered across several washes from Alabaster through White Oak to Admire to Black Oak, which is the mark of a pattern the brand has settled rather than a range still being tested. Regina takes the same volume and drops it to a low rise, cut from lightweight rigid cotton that softens with wear. Kira sits between the two at a mid rise. Margot Trouser runs low with adjustable waist hardware. The full range sits under wide leg jeans.
Long inseams and what stacking is
Stacking is what happens when a jean is cut longer than your leg on purpose. The extra fabric gathers in soft horizontal folds above your shoe instead of being hemmed away, and the folds hold their shape once the denim has broken in.
Annette is the clearest example on this page. It is a high rise straight leg, easy through the hip and thigh, and the inseam is cut long specifically so it can gather at the ankle over a boot. The Marcenia Boot do the same at the other end of the rise range, sitting low on the hip with a slouchy bootcut leg and a slight gather at the denim hem.
Some Marcenia Boot washes also ships with a raw hem, and that is deliberate. Cut it to your length, leave it as it is, or let it fray over time. One honest caveat: this collection does not publish inseam measurements, so how much a pair gathers on you depends on your height. If you are shorter than average, expect more fold than the photograph shows.
Full length or cropped
This is the page for hems that reach your shoe. If you want hems that finish above the ankle, cropped jeans is the page for that, and the two collections are built as a pair.
The decision comes down to what you want your shoe to do. Full length covers the top of the foot and gives you one uninterrupted line, which asks for a shoe with a little height underneath so the hem sits rather than drags. A crop ends the leg at a point you choose and makes the shoe visible. Annette runs full length and high, Odette full length and low, and Tatum sits at mid rise with a subtle taper. The one combination to think about is a full-length hem with a very flat shoe, where the extra fabric has nowhere to go.
Rise across the full length grid
Rise sets where the waistband sits on your torso, and it changes the apparent length of your leg more than anything below the knee. Everything else follows from it.
This grid runs across all three rises, so you can settle length first and rise second. Frida and Christie sit high. Tatum and Kira run mid. Regina, Odette, Margot Trouser and Marcenia Boot all sit low on the hip. If rise is the decision you want to make first, high rise jeans, mid rise jeans and low rise jeans set out the full range, and straight leg jeans covers the fit in both lengths.
